The People View presents information for a person including personal statistics and details about current and previous arrests, aliases, owned automobiles, personal references, life insurance policies, family details, stocks and bonds, income sources, personal property, bank accounts, real property, and related bonds, indemnitors, prospects, and phone logs.

To work with people, click the People button under People in the BARS Navigator.  The People Search page opens with a list of active people appearing at the bottom of the Search Frame.  Clicking on one of these records causes that record to appear in the Focus Frame.  To create a new people record, click Insert New Person in the Search Frame.  To edit the existing record, click Edit in the Focus Frame.

When in the standard view of the People pages, the status of the person is displayed.  The information in the Fields section below is displayed.

Information that may require multiple records, such as Family members, References, Automobiles, Bank Accounts, etc., are referred to as Related Records. If you are trying to edit or insert a person's Related Records (with the exception of Address History records), Cancel this operation and return to the Defendant View page. To insert a new Related Record, select the item from the INSERT drop down list at the top of the People View page or click Insert New item in the header of the appropriate Related Record list.

To edit any existing Related Record (with the exception of Address History records), locate the appropriate record, click its link to open its View page and then click EDIT. To create a history of defendant addresses, move down to the Personal section, click on the Copy to Last Address link located above the Home address fields. This copies the current address to the Last Address and creates an Address History record.

Person ID BARS will automatically assign this value if it is not entered on the Insert Person page.

This must be a unique number.  If you would like to assign your own ID's a suggested naming convention is as follows.  Assign the defendant ID by combining the Account ID, last name, first initial, middle initial and date. For example:

  • If we assume that the Account ID for Sherman Oaks Bail Bonds is 1000, the Defendant’s name is Uno J. Mann.  The date is April 3, 2001.
  • The defendant ID assigned would be 1000mannuj040301
